San Francisco–based Signature Wines is the leading private-label wine seller that targets university alumni associations, charitable organizations, and member-driven affinity groups. Their clients include Stanford, UCLA, West Point, the Sierra Club, National Public Radio, ReMax, Conde Nast, and Ducks Unlimited.

The company purchases its wine from established vineyards such as Ravenswood, Kendall-Jackson, Mondavi, Oakville Estates and Franciscan and designs unique labels for its clients' members, returning a royalty to the organization from sales of the product.

In 2002, Black Knight Partners, LP co-invested along with a San Francisco–based private equity firm to provide growth capital. Rob Holmes, Founding Partner of Black Knight Partners, LP, serves as a director on the Signature Wines board.
